Legislative updates: The Kansas Technical College (KTC) Presidents are preparing items to present to legislators for the January 2024 session. Those general discussions include the continuation of the base operating grant, cybersecurity funding, apprenticeships/business engagement funding, SB 155 Excel in CTE funding, capital outlay funds, and deferred maintenance needs.

Strategic Area 1: Student Success

The LPN pinning ceremony celebrated graduates with their family members at the pinning Friday, December 15.
We welcome students and kickoff the academic spring semester Tuesday, January 16.

Strategic Area 2: Employee Development and Support

The College reopened Thursday, January 4, after a welcomed winter holiday break.
Titles for two employees changed with the New Year. Charles Bartlett is the new Director of Facilities and Grounds. Laura Granado is the Evening Supervisor for Custodial Services.
Open enrollment recently concluded, and this adjustment allowed the College to align health, dental, and vision insurance premium year to match the deductible year. Premiums and deductible years now coincide with a January through December time frame. Premium rates will remain the same through December 2024.

Strategic Area 3: Optimized Programs and Facilities

The Exec Team met with Josh Loyd and Ben Moore Monday, January 8, to review Master Planning goals and needs.
The completed Facility Condition Index has been distributed and is included in this Board packet.

Strategic Area 4: Dynamic Partnerships

The College began its transformation of its auto fleet with the purchase of a 2023 Ford Escape (John North Ford) and 2024 Chevrolet Equinox (Longbine Auto Plaza) in mid-December. The recruiters will enjoy these carriages as they begin their spring travels.
Friday, January 12, Lisa Kirmer, Kim Dhority, and Caron Daugherty will meet a second time with USD 454 Burlingame leadership and Allen Community College leadership to further discuss partnerships in Burlingame and Osage County.
Members of the Exec team meet with Jones Trust representatives Thursday, January 11, on campus.
