Legislative updates: The Kansas Technical College (KTC) Presidents are preparing items to present to legislators for the January 2024 session. Those general discussions include the continuation of the base operating grant, Excel in CTE funding, capital outlay funds, and deferred maintenance needs.

Strategic Area 1: Student Success

Chris Wilson, Division Chair of Technology and faculty for the Industrial Engineering Technology program, took students to tour the Bradbury Company in Moundridge, KS.
Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid will film on campus Tuesday, October 10. The College will have access to a 1-minute commercial and a 5- to 6-minute corporate promo to be aired in early winter in markets of our selection.

Strategic Area 2: Employee Development and Support

Mid-semester all-College updates are scheduled over lunch during the first week of November. The topics include the master planning process, the Great Colleges data, budget updates, and a Change Leadership presentation.

Strategic Area 3: Optimized Programs and Facilities

Master planning conversations are underway to support the College's needs related to a maintenance facility for maintenance and custodial supplies and equipment, expansion of the Hollenbeck Educational Center to support Industrial Engineering Technology needs, and the potential for an advanced manufacturing facility.
Diamond Jubilee kickoff. The Metcalf, Stover, and Hollenbeck families will be on campus October 18 as we recognize those leaders' role in shaping FHTC's trajectory. The College is renaming the Main, Construction, and Technology buildings in honor of these leaders. The naming ceremony is from 3-5 p.m. in the Trusler Foundation Conference Center.

Strategic Area 4: Dynamic Partnerships

Manufacturing Day events. The Bradbury Company visit is in support and recognition of Manufacturing Day October 6. This statement is from Bradbury's invite: "By opening shop floors around the country, we will be able to show modern manufacturing for what it is—a sleek, technology-driven industry that offers secure, good-paying jobs. ... The Bradbury Co., Inc. is a family owned, global company that designs and builds high-quality, productivity-enhancing metal processing equipment for customers around the world. With our world headquarters in Moundridge since 1959, we employ over 350 Kansans and over 700 staff worldwide. Manufacturing Day will draw great attention to the outstanding opportunities that a career in manufacturing can provide and promote the pursuit of skills that will lead to a long-term career that offers security and growth for qualified candidates." We appreciate the Bradbury Company for including FHTC in this Manufacturing Day activity.
On October 3, Brenda Carmichael, Dean of Enrollment Management, and Deon Morrow, Director of Marketing and Social Media, presented to Rotary about the Wrangler Ranch student support service and the 60th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee events at the College. The Wrangler Ranch is the recipient of the 4th quarter Happy Bucks collected by Rotarians each week.
Early-stage conversations are taking place with two secondary partners about a construction technology initiative to support workforce development needs over the next few years.
