Maintenance & Custodial Facility and office refresh. The department continues to prepare spaces for new employees and office renovations. New offices were embedded into existing space in Reeble Student Success Center. The marketing office also received a fresh coat of paint to welcome the new marketing manager.

Strategic Area 1: Student Success Health Career Fair. Fifty-three (53) students took advantage of the opportunity to connect with healthcare employer partners, and the Adult Education Center, Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, Practical Nursing, and Certified Nursing Assistant programs were represented. The feedback to support the College’s co-curricular assessment suggests communication, professionalism, and preparedness ranked an average of a 5 rating (out of 5). The Foundation Scholarship Luncheon. Cory Kemper, Network Technology student who is also a Federal Work Study student with the Adult Education Center who is also an intern with the IT Department, delivered an extraordinary speech to the attendees. We are proud Cory selected FHTC for his education! Wrangler Ranch Donations. A College-wide food drive is underway through November 21. This food drive makes available to our students Thanksgiving meals. En Esto Juntos - United Way Grant. For the second year, the College received this grant from United Way of the Flint Hills to support the En Esto Juntos engagement and recruitment event in Spanish for Spanish-speaking families in our community. The funds allow the College to provide translation services for English speakers and the meal for the event. Congratulations to Eva De Hoyos for her leadership in this effort in coordinating the 3rd annual En Esto Juntos event in February 2025.

Strategic Area 2: Employee Development and Support All-College Updates November 19-20. As we do each fall and spring semester, the College leadership will share updates and field employee questions related to budgeting, facilities, strategic planning, etc. Holiday Party. The College is hosting the employee holiday party Thursday, December 5. Please join us! Kansas Council for Workforce Education (KCWE). Statewide professional development continues to be offered on our campus We appreciate the leadership of Kim Dhority in bringing this PD group to the College. American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Workforce Development Commission. I will be in Washington, DC, Wednesday and Thursday for Commission on Workforce Development meetings and technical education advocacy sessions.

Strategic Area 3: Optimized Programs and Facilities Open House Success. The College hosted an Open House October 17 to support Manufacturing Month. Each Friday, a new video posted to social media in support of these programs: Network Technology and the new cybersecurity lab, Industrial Engineering Technology and the Programmable Logic Control (PLC) lab, and the Welding Technology renovated and expanded learning spaces. As well, Computerized Machine Tool Engineering and Automotive Technology faculty were available. Precision Agriculture Program and Facility. Kim Dhority has led and facilitated this new-program effort with partner engagement and input. College leadership met with Ben Moore to discuss facility needs for the Precision Agriculture program, which has received full approval with KBOR. Processes now include hiring of the faculty, a review of facility location and analysis of program-specific classroom and equipment needs.

Several families and business partners joined the College to meet students; the students met the families and businesses that make their scholarships possible. Patterson Family Foundation Grant. The Patterson Family Foundation fully supported the College’s grant application to support both CDL and Precision Agriculture operation needs to the tune of $672,288.

Strategic Plan 2025-2030: Board Representative Board Representative. The College is in the final phases of the current strategic plan and is in process to develop the research framework for the new strategic plan. We request a Board volunteer for this team.
