Advancing Student Success: Strategic Plan 2025-2030 Strategic Area 1: High Quality Programs Industrial Engineering Technology Student Showcase May 7. On behalf of the IET program, the IET faculty has scheduled the reverse career fair and showcase for Thursday, May 7, from 1-3 p.m. This is Chris Wilson's description of the event: "There will be several projects that our IET students will present to our guests, including a clay pigeon thrower, a mini golf hole, and an air hockey table, along with a few others. Each is constructed using equipment found in industrial manufacturing settings along with current automation equipment and programming techniques. [Attendees] will have the opportunity to visit with students about the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the IET program, career opportunities that you may have for our graduates at your facilities, and feedback on how the IET Program can better prepare students to come to work in YOUR facility. Students will have resumes available upon request, and you may even be able to interview students for open positions that you have. We will also have a reverse career fair where employers can go from student to student, collect resumes, and visit with students regarding their specific skill sets and career ambitions." Skills USA travel and Hospitality & Culinary Arts. Watch for Jessica Treu's cake at the Gala! She will have a beautiful chocolate cake for auction to support her Skills USA national competition in June. Party Safe Project Thursday, April 16 6 p.m. (City of Emporia partnership). The College is hosting this national forum with support from City appropriations. This information is from the Party Safe Project: "The Party Safe Project uses a combination of humor, multimedia, audience interaction, statistics, and active discussion to teach students about alcohol and substance abuse from a realistic perspective. The program discusses different substances, how they affect students physically and how they can affect their mental health. The Party Safe Project also addresses cultural issues on campus that can create a party-centric environment which can lead students down a destructive path. The program uses open and honest discussion to help create a healthy campus culture."

Strategic Area 2: Well-Supported Employees All-Employee Budget Updates. The College has scheduled budget meetings for all employees for Thursday, April 16, at 2:30 p.m. and Friday, April 17, at 7:15 a.m. Zoom access will also be available for remote participation. Great Colleges to Work For Survey 2026 (now closed). The 2026 survey closed April 3 with around a 70% participation rate. The results are shared in the fall, and the updates are generally reported to the Board in December or January. We continue to review trends and identify improvements as a result of these data and the employee feedback.

Strategic Area 3: Optimized Facilities Conference Room HVAC Improvements. Updates to the Conference Room system will be forthcoming. These updates will allow maintenance staff to better regulate the temperatures in the spaces. Click Maint: Facility Maintenance Tracking Tool. In consultation with the Maintenance staff, the College is implementing a new maintenance tracking and facility inventory system over the next few months. A soft rollout will take place through August; training will be delivered to all employees at professional development in August.

Strategic Area 4: Strong Partnerships KBOR Rural Talent Lab. KBOR and Kansas was one of 5 states selected for a Rural Talent Lab Development grant. I serve on the task force for this rural initiative, and the facilitators will host a regional listening forum for rural development at the College on Tuesday, May 12, in the later afternoon-early evening. This session invites participants to share challenges, resources, opportunities, and other strategies to support rural development needs. Registered Apprenticeship Summit April 29. Some College staff will participate in this discussion on apprenticeships with Kansas Works. As the state looks to increase apprenticeships and funding for these earn- to-learn models, the College wants to be well established in the model to support our industry partners as they consider or implement this education/training model.
