Board Meeting Schedule and Topics

Board Meeting Schedule. A general schedule for events and agenda items for the monthly meetings of the Board of Trustees. This document offers a planning schedule for both the Exec Admin and for the Board's awareness of topics for discussion throughout the academic year. We will update and revise it as programs and schedules adjust.

Advancing Student Success: Strategic Plan 2025-2030

Strategic Area 1: High Quality Programs

SkillsUSA National Stage. Anytime the College is represented on the national stage, it’s a win. Enduring the stress of travel, preparation, delivery, presentation, and engagement is an extraordinary experience. I appreciate Jessica Treu’s perseverance and what so many of us learn so early –showing up makes a difference.
CDL Simulation Unit. The CDL training simulation unit arrived on campus a couple weeks ago. Eric Crook and Josh Tuttle have completed training with ATS representatives and are preparing for additional opportunities to introduce it to our community. One of those opportunities was at the community picnic at the Fairgrounds July 3.

Strategic Area 2: Well-Supported Employees

Summer Ice Cream Social. The College Exec Team will serve summer staff and faculty ice cream on Monday, July 20.
Engagement Redux: Plan for the 4 Questions. Some of you may recall the “4 Questions” initiative from summer and fall 2021 when I started. I will revisit those same 4 questions with our current employees, starting with staff sessions and transitioning to faculty meetings this fall. This was an opportunity for us to discuss needs at that time – it gave me a good framework to learn our needs and hopes. This revisit will help us look at the next 5 years in light of our current strategic plan and capital campaign. Cassie will initiate that scheduling over the next few weeks.

Strategic Area 3: Optimized Facilities

New Generator. The new generator was tested Friday, June 27, and since no news is good news, I’ll take it the installation and testing went smoothly. The power outage expedited our need for the upgraded generator. As a reminder, when power goes out, the back-up generator operates the front office, the business office, the admin office, IT suite, and the servers.
Click Maint: Facility Maintenance Tracking Tool. In consultation with the Maintenance staff, the College is implementing a new maintenance tracking and facility inventory system over the next few months. A soft rollout will take place through August; training will be delivered to all employees at professional development in August.
Maintenance Facility Laydown Yard. Fencing has been scheduled to place around the maintenance facility for a laydown yard for equipment and large tools.

Strategic Area 4: Strong Partnerships

Manufacturing Council. The quarterly meeting of the Manufacturing Council was held Wednesday, July 8. Several initiatives come from these meetings, and over the next quarter, these efforts will be planned or perhaps completed:
- Registered Apprenticeship discussions and partnerships. Terry Rhoads has picked up the B&I slack and will work with partners to establish a formal Registered Apprenticeship model for employer partners.
- Middle-school showcase for Manufacturing Week the first week of October.
- Review of additional partners to invite to the table.
- Attendees: Simmons, Hills, Michelin, Smuckers, Vektek, Glendo, RDA.
