Background and Analysis:

For Measure G Project #509-511, the District contracted with Ratcliff Architects to develop architectural drawings and specifications to perform demolition of the Flint Center, utility work disconnection and rerouting utilities, grading of site, installation of landscaping and landscape elements and upgrades to A8 and surrounding impacted areas.

Bid #1920-509-511 was legally advertised in the San Jose Post Record on November 15, 2023, and the bid documents were broadcasted to several contractors and builder’s exchanges through Foothill-De Anza Community College District's Purchasing website portal. A mandatory job walk was held on November 28, 2023. A total of 27 contractors and subcontractors attended the walk. A second non-mandatory job walk was held for the B-Licensed Contractors to bring their subcontractors. The job walk included a tour of the interior of the building with multiple contractors which needed police support to escort through the Flint Center on December 12, 2023. Bid proposals were due by the February 8, 2024, deadline. Ten bids were received and summarized below:

Staff recommends award to Clauss Construction as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Clauss Construction has confirmed that its bid is true and correct and that it will self-perform all non-listed subcontract work required in this project.
