This past month has seen the end of a successful academic year, culminating in our 52nd gr aduation. There were over 100 more students walking across stage this year to receive their diplomas, than last year. After the end of the term, we switched gears to prepare for the summer session and on June 9th classes began.

Enrollments

Summer 2025 has begun with increasing enrollment at all of our locations (Ukiah, Lakeport, Willits, Fort Bragg, Online). Currently FTES is 7% higher than 2024. This places the district in a favorable advantage. Summer is the start of our annual enrollment year (Summer, Fall, Spring). It is always better being slightly ahead, than trying to catch up later in the year. SEMESTER

ENROLLMENTS: To re-emphasiz, STUDENTS: e information shared in last month’, FTES: s report the most recent number of Nativ, e American students enrolled activ, ely at Mendocino college is 411 students, higher than our most recently reported number of 379 (2023/2024). Native American students experienced an 11% increase in retention from Fall 2023 to Spring 2024, compared to the previous year. Also, out of 240 continuing Native American students, 119 of them had an education plan. The 50% rate is higher than that of our general student population.

The work of the Native American Student Success & Support Program (NASSSP) is illustrated in statewide data too. Below is a table representing the 20 colleges that were awarded NASSSP funding. Since 2021, Mendocino College has had the highest Native American student headcount of any California Community College.
Mendocino College Faculty Diversity Program (FDMP)

I’m excited to share the successful completion of our first cohort of Mendocino College Faculty Diversity Program (FDMP) mentees!

This program has been two years in the making, built collaboratively with input from classified professionals, faculty, and management, and made possible through funding from our Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) fund. Six participants completed the year-long program designed to support individuals in preparing for careers as community college faculty.

Throughout the year, mentees developed equity-based capstone projects, which they presented at the FDMP Symposium last Friday. In the fall, all participants attended six Saturday workshops, and in the spring, each was paired with a Mendocino College faculty mentor.
