For the OC Tech Bar has operated with the help of $100,000 in COVID-19 funding, which is coming to an end.

Sustaining the OC Tech Bar at its current level would allow us to maintain the same quality and availability of services for students and faculty.

During the discussion, additional information was requested to help quantify the volume of student visits the OC Tech Bar receives. It’s important to note that walk‑in visits represent only one part of the services they provide. The Tech Bar also delivers first‑response support for classroom technology issues and offers general technology assistance across campus.

Approved Statement

The Technology Committee officially recommends that Oxnard College continue to support the Tech Bar student-worker positions. These positions are vital for the distribution of loaner laptops and for providing technical support and software training to our student body. By bridging the digital divide, the Tech Bar directly fosters student success—particularly for those enrolled in online courses. Students that are prepared with functional equipment and basic knowledge of computers will be more successful in their coursework whether online or on campus.
Furthermore, these assistants will play a key role in the committee's upcoming laptop and PC surplus donation program. Beyond campus operations, the Tech Bar serves as a practical lab, providing invaluable hands-on IT training for students pursuing careers in the field.
