MiraCosta Online Educators (MOE)

“As a standing committee of the MiraCosta Academic Senate, the mission of MiraCosta Online Educators (MOE) is to provide leadership and guidance to the Academic Senate and MiraCosta community regarding online education and its varying communities of practice and modalities. Areas of focus include pedagogy, technology, support services, and student experience. MOE’s focus is to fulfill the mission expressed in the Online Education Plan: to create and support an engaging, equitable, and student-centered learning experience through online instruction, resources, and services. Members commit to enacting equity principles of diversity, antiracism, accessibility, and inclusivity, to create a supportive collegial environment, and to foster the academic and holistic success of diverse learners.”

Sacramento City College: Distance Education Committee

“The Distance Education Subcommittee of the Academic Senate coordinates college activities related to distance education, including curriculum, policies, best practices, course delivery and assessment, planning, and implementation. It serves as a single point of contact for issues related to distance education for the college. The committee also provides input to the district-wide activities performed by various educational and information technology task groups so that college interests are included in the district decision-making process.”

Santa Ana College: Distance Education Advisory Group

“The mission of the Distance Education Advisory Work Group at Santa Ana College and The School of Continuing Education is to ensure students have the highest quality, equitable online learning through accessible and innovative technology utilizing universal design practices.”

“The charge of the Distance Education Advisory Work Group is to provide faculty with the tools, pedagogical best practices, and resources to successfully teach students in an online modality. The group will make data informed recommendations to the Academic Senate, the campus community, and the district with the goal of ensuring the highest quality and equitable learning environment for our students.”

“Our Distance Education Advisory Group is an Academic Senate work group. The purpose of our advisory group is to assist our Distance Education program in meeting the needs of our faculty teaching in Distance Education by developing procedures and training that support our mission in Distance Education. The DE Advisory Group is an active, working group, providing advisement for the DE Department and faculty in the form of training, sharing of effective practices and communication with their divisions/departments. Distance Education Advisory Group members are represented from all academic divisions. The Distance Education Coordinator chairs the Distance Education Advisory Group.”

Golden West College: Distance Education Advisory Committee

Mission Statement: “The Distance Education Advisory Committee (DEAC) facilitates discussions on and analyzes challenges related to issues impacting distance education. DEAC is committed to supporting the highest quality of content, rigor, grading, and teaching in distance education at Golden West College.”

Committee’s Charge: “The Distance Education Advisory Committee is charged with:

- Promoting guidelines to maintain Title V, CA Education Code, Federal Financial Aid, ADA, and other compliances for distance education.
- Providing necessary training and information on distance education.
- Developing and promoting professional development to enhance distance education instruction.
- Advising the Senate and other appropriate constituencies of committee recommendations. "
