Background

In March 2023, an ACCJC Visiting Team conducted a review of the three College ISE Rs (formative component) to identify where the Colleges meet ACCJC Standards and to identify areas of attention for a Focused Site Visit (summative component). The Team then provided the Colleges a set of Core Inquiries that the team intended to pursue to validate compliance, improvement, or areas of excellence. The Colleges provided additional information in response to these Core Inquiries, preparing the Visiting Team for their Focused Site Visits, which took place at all three Colleges September 25-26, 2023.

The observations gathered through each of these steps informed the Peer Review Team Report and their determination of whether the Colleges continue to meet Accreditation Standards, Eligibility Requirements, Commission Policies, and U.S. Department of Education regulations. Through this process, two District-level concerns emerged:

District Recommendations to Meet Standards (for Compliance): District Recommendation 1: In order to , the team recommends that the governing board delegates full responsibility and authority meet the Standard to the CEO to implement board policies without board interference. (IV.C.12)

District Recommendations to Improve Quality: District Recommendation 2: In order to , the team recommends the Board consistently acts as a collective entity. (IV.C.2)increase effectiveness

To address Recommendation #2, the Board committed to participate in Board Development activities and to conduct a thorough review of their policies. A Board Sub-Committee was established and charged with the completion of the comprehensive review of Chapter 2 Board Policies to ensure currency, comprehension, and adherence.

This item provides an update to the PASS committee on the progress being made in this policy review project.
