EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Academic Affairs:

The Emporia Public Library visited our Adult Education Center to discuss resources available to students. Several students signed up for their own library cards.
Automotive Technology students, faculty and staff prepared and shared a Thanksgiving meal before fall break.
Information for the Precision Agriculture Technology program was submitted to the Higher Learning Commission for approval at the accreditation level.
The Adult Education Center hosted a Language exchange in collaboration with Emporia Spanish Speakers for conversation and cultural exchange.
Kim Dhority was chosen to serve on "First 15 Workgroup" through the Kansas Board of Regents alongside representatives from school districts, technical colleges, community colleges and universities. The First 15 concept will encourage and support high school students to take 15 credit hours of general education courses through dual/concurrent enrollment at no charge to the student.
Students taking Biology, Microbiology, and A&P classes presented research projects during the Science Fair on November 16th.
Four current students in the Practical Nursing program received scholarships from Newman Regional Health. The students were recognized during a ceremony on November 12th.
Hospitality/Culinary Arts hosted a Holiday Cookie Baking Event/Cookie Exchange on December 4th.
Kim Dhority submitted the Perkins Quarterly Report to KBOR.
A Lunch and Learn was hosted in collaboration with Crosswinds related to "Handling work and student stress."
Hospitality/Culinary Arts program is adding an Advanced Pastry Course and combining Special Diets into the existing Nutrition course. This change was reviewed and approved by the Curriculum Subcommittee, Institutional Services Committee, and Leadership Team.
In response to KBOR changes, the General Education Department will be adding an Elementary Statistics Course. This course was reviewed and approved by the Curriculum Subcommittee, Institutional Services Committee, and Leadership Team.

Student Services:

The Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) partnered with the Graphic Arts Technology program and Flatland Threads to create and sell FHTC apparel as a fundraiser for the organization.
Walmart donated $1,500 to help support the Wrangler Ranch food pantry.
FHTC was a sponsor of Laundry Love, a neighboring movement that partnered with Newman Regional Health, The United Way, FHTC and Laundry Land to provide the means to wash clothing and bedding for low-income/or no-income families and persons on November 21st.
Staff hosted a Junior/Senior Day on November 15th and six current students visited with prospective students and their families about FHTC.
A Lactation Room was remodeled and added to the Metcalf Education Center utilizing the KBOR Student Success Initiative funding.
Students and employees participated in the 46th annual Christmas Parade on December 3rd.
Student Senate is organizing an Adopt a Student Event to support two current students during the month of December.
Over 200 food items were collected during a food drive in November to help provide food for Thanksgiving to students.
An End of the Semester Bash was held on December 4th with food and the movie "The Polar Express."

Institutional Effectiveness:

A full-day Assessment Day was held for staff on November 22, led by Denise Gilligan, director of institutional effectiveness. Staff reviewed institutional assessment, set department goals, tracked goal progress, reviewed data and discussed Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLOs) and the best methods for staff evaluation of ISLOs.

Marketing:

With the addition of two new staff in the Marketing Department, the focus on social media activity has significantly increased. Ryann Brooks, Marketing and Public Relations Manager, collected the following analytics.
